Small Schools Project

In 2003, BAEO received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to create 15 new small high schools urban communities thoughout the country.

The BAEO/Gates Network of Small High Schools seeks to partner with individuals or organizations interested in creating new, small, quality high schools to train the next generation.

BAEO will provide interested parties with expert start-up, and ongoing technical assistance and training in creating a high quality academic environment that is rigorously challenging and meets the needs of today's students.

Interested parties must care deeply for the souls of black children. We will only partner with those who desire to actively and positively affect the academic, social, physical, emotional and spiritual development of healthy black children.

The key to a BAEO/Gates Network school is that students are provided with a range of options to meet their individual needs in small learning community. The BAEO/Gates schools rely heavily upon a project-based learning instructional approach.
