Cory Booker
Newark, NJ

Cory Booker serves on the Newark City Council as a representative of one of America’s poorest, impacted communities-Newark Central Ward. At 31 years old, Cory has earned a reputation as one of this country’s most ardent community activists, innovative problem solvers, and passionate advocate for justice. His tireless, sometimes unorthodox, work on behalf of his community has been recognized by Time magazine, the CBS Evening News, and numerous other publications and news programs.

Cory is also a Rhodes Scholar, a former All-American tight end at Stanford University, and a graduate of Yale University Law School. During his time at Yale, Cory worked as a legal advisor for a low-income tenants association in Newark, founded the Yale Chai Society, ran a student legal clinic, and volunteered in a local big brother program. In the summer of 2000, Cory moved into a mobile home so that he could move as needed to troubled areas of his ward to address pressing problems and continue his pursuit of justice and equality for Newark residents.
